Postgraduate Student Workshop: Call for Papers

“Studying Electoral Competition in Multilevel Contexts:
Methodological Challenges in Cross-National Research”

The Centre for Elections, Media & Parties (CEMaP) at the University of Exeter invites applications to participate in a workshop on the challenges associated with comparative cross-national electoral research. The one-day workshop is part of a series of workshops organized by Susan Banducci, Nicole Bolleyer, Jeff Karp, Caitlin Milazzo, Dan Stevens and Jack Vowles in the context of the ESRC-funded project “Comparative Cross-National Electoral Research” (CCNER). This particular workshop is directed towards postgraduate students and young scholars who conduct cross-national research in the area of electoral studies and comparative party politics. Participants will attend lectures on core methodological issues by Professors David Farrell (University College Dublin) and Ian McAllister (Australian National University) and have the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from experienced scholars in the area of comparative politics. The workshop is tentatively scheduled April 3rd 2012 at the PSA Annual Conference in Belfast.

Postgraduate students interested in presenting a paper should send a short abstract (max. 200 words) and a 1-page CV to Caitlin Milazzo (C.Milazzo@exeter.ac.uk). The deadline for applications is 17 February 2012 at 5pm (GMT). Successful applicants will be contacted in late February 2012 and will receive a bursary of £120.
